High resolution seismic data collected from the RV Nathaniel B Palmer operating in southern McMurdo Sound to determine the timing of fault and basin formation in the Victoria Land Basin
Abstract:
Over 2,500km of high resolution seismic data was collected from the Ross Sea Region in the Victoria Land Basin to provide information to determine the history of ice margin and water depth changes implied by drill hole data at Cape Roberts and CIROS drill sites. The survey was conducted from the RV Nathaniel B Palmer (NBP0401) which was not able to penetrate fast ice to collect data directly over the Cape Roberts Project site. However, the collected data was added into the existing grid of seismic lines to help determine the stratigraphy of the Victoria Land Basin and southern McMurdo Sound.
