Abstract:
The effects of Scott Base effluents on the marine environment was investigated by collecting bottom sediments and water samples on both side of the pressure ridges at Pram Point, near Scott Base. A grid pattern of holes were drilled through the sea ice and samples of bottom sediments and water samples for faunal, microbiological and chemical analysis were collected. Control sites at Cape Armitage and Turtle Rock were also sampled, remote from the anthropogenic effluents of Scott Base.
