Abstract:
Construction of buildings at McMurdo Station and Scott Base has resulted in the loss of several of the gravity base stations established during and shortly after the IGY. Antarctica New Zealand established a new gravity base station at Scott Base (SBG-1) in the 2007/08 season. Relative measurements of gravity at stations MMD-N and SBG-1 at Scott Base and the International Satellite Triagulation Station and Thiel-1 at McMurdo Station were conducted in order to provide a reference value for the new station at Scott Base.
