Abstract:
The electromagnetic interference problems in the McMurdo Station-Scott Base area of Antarctica was investigated. Growth in the area has resulted in contamination of the natural environment with man made noise of a number of types. As a result, sensitive experiments and communications equipment operating the area experience considerable interference. In November 1970 radio noise levels were measured at 19 sites within 100km of McMurdo Station to evaluate the possibility of establishing a quiet experimental station for operation of sensitive equipment.
