Summary
Abstract:
The data resides in several books, one being 'Die Temperatureverhaltnisse Der Grosshezogtumer Mecklenburg' (C/dc 231 G) written in German. The data contained in this book are tables and graphs of daily, monthly, seasonal, and annual temperature data for Germany from 1850 to 1903. Five-day means are tabulated. The following monthly parameters for each month are included in these data: mean ... temperature; mean temperature difference; mean variability of the temperature difference; mean of the daily means; highest daily mean in a given year; lowest daily mean; mean daily maximum; mean daily minimum; mean daily amplitude; number of days maximum and minimum is <0, and maximum > 25. Monthly parameters averaged over the period include: mean, mean absolute monthly and annual extreme; departure from monthly and annual mean; and frequency of specific daily means. Seasonal and annual parameters included in these data are the mean temperature and departure of mean temperature. In addition, these data feature graphs of continuous daily mean temperatures averaged over the period, monthly means averaged over the period, and continuous daily means of pressure, precipitation, relative humidity, and vapor pressure only for the year 1875. Additional data resides in 1 book, 'Die Beobachtungsergebniffe ber Meteorolgifchen Stationen im Lande Branufchweig fur bie Jahre 1926 bis 1935' (C/dc 180 F738) written in German. The data contained in this book are tables and graphs of daily, monthly, and annual precipitation, surface temperature and winds for Germany from 1878 to 1935. The daily parameters for each month of the year included in these data are: mean temperature; mean maximum and minimum temperature; absolute maximum and minimum temperature; and snowfall at 7 A.M. and P.M. Monthly variables for each individual month incorporated in these data are the following: precipitation amount; greatest daily precipitation amount; heaviest rainfall in shortest duration; number of days of snow, precipitation greater then a certain intensity, fog, thunderstorms, clear skies, cloudy skies, ice, maximum and minimum <0, maximum > 25, and frontal boundaries. Parameters averaged over five and ten-year periods include: precipitation amount; days of snow and days of precipitation greater then a certain intensity; daily mean, maximum, and minimum temperature; and wind direction frequency. The only annual parameter found in these data is precipitation amount. There are graphs of annual precipitation and mean precipitation and temperature in the vegetation months. These graphs are for each individual year. Monthly precipitation and temperature averaged over the period are also plotted on a graph. German and other European data resides in 1 book, 'Die Regenverhaltnisse des Konigreichs Hannover nebst ausfuhrlicher Darstellung aller den Atmospharischen Niederschlag und die Verdunstung' (C/dc 191 P) written in German. The data contained in this book are tables and maps of monthly and annual precipitation and evaporation data for Germany and European countries from 1743 to 1863. The following parameters for each month of the period are included in these data: precipitation amount; greatest number of consecutive days of precipitation and the amount; number of days of rain, snow, precipitation, hail, and rain; greatest daily snowfall amount; and evaporation amount from the rivers. Variables that are averaged over the period are: mean of the evaporation; wind direction associated with certain rainfall amounts; and winds for Northwest Germany. Maps included in these data are annual precipitation and monthly rainfall totals. These are averaged over the period. European daily weather maps resides in 15 volumes, 'Zehntagiger Witterungsbericht fur die Landwirthschaft' (C/dc 100 A2 ) written in German. The data contained in these books are tables of daily surface climate data for Germany and daily weather maps for Europe. These data are for each individual year of the period 1902 to 1920. The daily weather maps of Europe include isobars, isotherms, wind direction and speed, and precipitation areas. The daily parameters included in the data tables are the following: ten-day mean cloudiness, mean maximum and minimum temperature, and rainfall totals; maximum and minimum temperature; daily rainfall and cloud amounts, and sunshine duration. These books are part of the foreign meteorological data collection held by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in this collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly, seasonal, and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for weather maps. These data are the result of foreign exchange agreements, but the collection has not been updated since 1983.
