Abstract:
Monthly Aerological Data Set (MONADS) Subset / Short MONADS is digital data set DSI-6221 archived at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). As suggested by its title, Short MONADS is a subset of the larger digital data set MONADS. (The latter is NCDC digital data set DSI-6220.) MONADS is statistical upper air data, based on radiosonde data from another digital data set at NCDC: Comprehensive
... Aerological Data Set (CARDS) (DSI-6305). MONADS has data for the surface, tropopause, and mandatory pressure levels. Short MONADS has statistics for geopotential height, temperature, specific humidity, zonal wind, and meridional wind. For each of these, parameters consist of the statistical values mean value, standard deviation, and the number of observations used to compute the mean and standard deviation. Data are from upper air stations all over the world. The data period varies by station. The earliest data is from 1948; the latest, from 1990.
