Abstract:
Climate data resides in 1 book, 'Die Klimatischen Verhaltnisse Von Luneburg Nach den Beobachtungen der Hiefigen Meteoroligischen Station' (C/dc 223 E34) written in German. The data contained in this book are tables of daily, monthly, seasonal, and annual surface climatic data for Luneburg, Germany and precipitation data for Brenen and Berlin from 1855 to 1921.
Five-day means of temperature are ... tabulated for the period. Monthly parameters for each month of the period are the following: mean pressure, temperature, humidity, cloudiness, precipitation, and winds; mean maximum and minimum pressure; absolute maximum and minimum temperature; and, precipitation totals; and number of days of maximum > 25, maximum and minimum <0, precipitation of a certain intensity, snow, snow cover, thunderstorms, fog, clear skies, cloudy skies, and stormy conditions; and wind direction frequency. Monthly variables averaged over the period are: mean pressure, humidity, winds, and precipitation; number of precipitation and strong wind days; and wind direction frequency. Seasonal parameters incorporated in these data are mean and maximum temperature, and days of snow and snow cover. Annual variables are mean temperature and precipitation. In addition, the earliest and latest frosts, intense rainfall dates, and greatest amount of snow cover for each year are included in these data.
The ozone data resides in 1 book, 'Beobachtungen Uber Temperatur, Feuchtigkeit, Ozonegehalt Der Atmosphere in Soden am Taunus' (C/dc 201 s121 p2429) written in German. The data contained in this book are hourly humidity observations and daily and monthly surface temperature, humidity, and ozone data for Soden, Dresden, and Berlin, Germany. These data are for each month from May to July 1861. Daily parameters included in these data are: mean temperature, humidity, and ozone; five-day mean temperature; mean temperature difference; and frequency of humidity observations of a certain category. Monthly parameters incorporated in these data are mean temperature, and maximum and minimum temperature (including date).
These books are part of the foreign meteorological data collection held by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in this collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly, seasonal, and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for weather maps. These data are the result of foreign exchange agreements, but the collection has not been updated since 1983.
