Abstract:
This coverage includes basins (watershed resource inventory areas),
sub-basins and watershed administrative units. It was originally created
by the Washington DNR, but was then modified by staff at Interrain
Pacific.
This is a hierarchical coverage comprised of the WRIA covrage compiled by
DNR Information Mgt. at a scale of 1:24,000; with additional WRIABASIN
arcs (that subdivide the WRIAs)
... digitized at a scale of 1:250,000 by
Forest Practices Division Personnel; with additional WAU arcs (that sub-
divide the WRIABASINs) digitized at 1:100,000 scale by DNR region
personnel. Water Resource Inventory Areas (WRIAs) are the largest unit,
BASINs are subunits of WRIAs, and WAUs are subunits of BASINs. Although
the WAU arcs were digitized at 1:100,000, levels of accuracy for diff.
parts of the state vary since it was compiled separely by different
regions.
Once the coverage was received by Interrain Pacific, WAU boundaries were
further modified by on-screen digitizing with a 1:24,000 scale hydro
layer as a background reference.
This data set is part of the Inforain project which allows users to better
understand their watershed. This data goes along with other data sets from the
Inforain project.
