Summary
Abstract: Web Weather for Kids is an Internet site for kids in grades 5-8. It presents hands-on activities and information about dramatic weather events - thunderstorms, lightning, blizzards, hurricanes and tornadoes. Activities have been classroom-tested by Project LEARN (http://www.ucar.edu/learn/) and are aligned with the National Science Education Standards.

Web Weather for Kids offers:

- An online international weather forecasting contest
- Interesting, inquiry-based experiments about weather for classroom and home.
- Kid-friendly and well illustrated Web pages.
- Great tips for teachers, parents, and youth group leaders.

Because climate, pollution, and the environment are part of the everyday
awareness of young people, the atmospheric sciences offer an unusual
opportunity to teach science in engaging, relevant ways. UCAR's K-12 education
