Abstract:
The SR43-44 dataset is a topographic dataset, detailing features within Princess Elizabeth Land, more specifically along the Ingrid Christensen Coast. The area includes Prydz Bay and the Amery Ice Shelf. The database contains all natural features. Attributes are held for line, point and polygon features. The dataset conforms to the Australian Antarctic Spatial model. The dataset was originally produced as a base to supply data for the second edition hard copy map series. It was updated in 2001/02 with the integration of data from the AAT Coastline 2001 dataset.
Quality
Pre 2001/02 ----------- Only those features included in the Australian Antarctic Database Model form part of this dataset. This dataset was complied from existing 1:1 Million data, updated with data captured from recent satellite imagery covering the area. Simplified versions of the most recent datasets including the Larsemann Hills, Rauer Group and the Vestfold Hills were ... incorporated. Contour data were supplemented with data from ERS radar. The value tests for the dataset include; a test for spatial accuracy and data completeness, including line and polygon errors. The dataset is edge checked to the other 1:1 Million datasets in the region. A test for valid features against the data model and a visual check against hard copy material are also performed. Horizontal and vertical accuracy of well-defined features is 10m. As the data have been collected from a wide variety of sources, positional and vertical accuracy can be sourced from the satellite imagery covering the SR 43-44 area.
2001/02 update -------------- This dataset was updated in 2001/02 with the integration of data from the AAT Coastline 2001 dataset. The latter dataset is described in the metadata record with ID AAT_Coastline_2001. The latter dataset is described in the metadata record with ID AAT_Coastline_2001.
