Abstract:
Russian snowfall data reside in 1 book, 'Uber Schneeverewehungen Auf
Den Eisenbahnen in Russland' (C/db S774ub) and is written in
German. The data contained in this book are tables of USSR snowfalls
and the circulation patterns associated with them in the USSR for the
period 1875 to 1889. These tables contain the following information:
date, amount, and duration of these snowfalls, surface wind
... direction
and barometric gradient associated with these snowfalls, location and
intensity of maximum and minimum pressure, and central cyclone and
anticyclone trajectories for the snowfalls.
The snow density and depth data reside in 1 book, 'Observations Sur La
Densite De La Couche De Neige, Faites Durant 5 Hivers 1903/4-1907/8'
(C/db B493) and is written in Russian and French. The data contained
in this book are tables of snow depth and mean density of the snow for
selected dates during the five winters from 1903 to 1908.
These books are part of the foreign meteorological data collection
held by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in
this collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly,
seasonal, and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for
weather maps. These data are the result of foreign exchange
agreements, but the collection has not been updated since 1983.
