Abstract:
Temperature, precipitation, and cloud data resides in 1 book, 'Uber
Die Temperatur Des Bodens Und Der Schneedecke in Sodankyla Nach
Beobachtungen Mit Thermoelementen' (C/dab K395) written in German. The
data contained in this book are tables of daily, monthly, and seasonal
surface temperature, precipitation, and cloudiness for Sodankyla,
Finland from 1886 to 1917. The daily parameters for each
... individual
month from 1915 to 1917 are mean soil, air temperature, cloudiness,
precipitation amount, and snow cover.
The monthly parameters for each individual month included in these
data are the following: temperature deviation from normal; mean soil
temperatures, cloudiness, snow and sand surface temperature; deviation
from normal of precipitation amount, precipitation days, snow depth,
and snow days; total snow depth; and snow cover height and density.
In addition, there is data on the mean, maximum, and minimum snow
density at different temperature intervals and different layers. Data
for each month are for the years 1915 to 1917, and ground temperatures
are recorded with different sky conditions and air temperatures. The
monthly variables averaged over the period 1886 to 1917 included in
these data are: mean cloudiness, precipitation, snow depth, snow days,
and number of days with precipitation of a certain intensity; and mean
cloudiness deviation from normal. A seasonal parameter incorporated in
these data are the number of days of snow for each season from 1891-94
and 1915-17, and an annual parameter included in these data is the
annual mean ground temperature at various depths for each year.
In addition, the parameters mentioned above are in graphic form at the
back of the book.
Sunshine and additional cloud data resides in 1 book,
'Sonnescheindauer V. Bewolkung in Helsingfors' (C/dab J65s ) written
in German. The data contained in this book are monthly and seasonal
sunshine and cloud data for Finland from 1903 to 1907. Parameters
averaged over the period are monthly sunshine duration for hour
intervals, and monthly and seasonal mean cloud amount. The only
parameter averaged for each individual month is monthly mean sunshine
duration for hour intervals.
Wind and additional precipitation data resides in 1 book, 'Bei Welcher
Temperatur Fallen in Finnland Die Neiderschlage' (C/dab K84b) written
in German. The data contained in this book are tables of monthly
precipitation and wind data and their association with various
temperature ranges. These data are for Finland and averaged over the
period 1844 to 1915. The following precipitation data are for
Helsinki, Finland only: amount, number of rain hours, number of days
with precipitation greater then a certain intensity, and absolute rain
probability. The other data contained in this book are precipitation
and snowfall, and the wind direction frequency at various temperature
ranges. Most of the tables are in the back of the book.
These books are part of the foreign meteorological data collection
held by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in
this collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly,
seasonal, and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for
weather maps. These data are the result of foreign exchange
agreements, but the collection has not been updated since 1983.
