Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Geologic data reports available are from academia, government, and foreign sources. Reports may contain one or more of the following types of analyses of sediment or hardrock from the ocean floor worldwide: descriptions, grain size, mineralogy, geochemistry, paleontology, petrology and acoustics of sediment. They may also contain photographs of the ocean floor. The photographs are from
... several sources, however, the majority are from the Deep Ocean Mining Environmental Study (DOMES) from the central Pacific. DOMES photos are primarily of manganese nodules on the ocean floor, all are black and white on 35-mm microfilm; some are stereo-pairs. Some vane shear data for surrounding sediments are also available, as well as 35-mm color slides of the box cores taken at some DOMES sites. All reports are represented in the Marine Geology Digital Inventory (GEOLIN) described in Dataset_ID FE00496. These reports have been scanned and are available in digital format, usable on PC's.
