Abstract:
The data found in the "Classification, Mapping, and
Interpretation of Soils" dataset is used for classifying,
mapping and interpreting the soils of Arkansas. Its purpose is
to make available (by means of maps and reports) information
regarding their distribution; the known information regarding
their origin; their physical, mineralogical, and chemical
properties; and their suitabilities for
... agricultural and
non-agricultural land uses.
Collection Organization: University of Arkansas.
Collection Methodology: The soils classified according to the
national system and detailed soils maps prepared for each
Arkansas county. General soils maps for counties, watershed
areas or other special areas, and a general map for the state
also prepared. Field mapping of soils largely by NRCS personnel.
Classification and correlation is a cooperative effort by NRCS
and the Agricultural Experiment Station. Available analytical
methods and instrumentation used by Experiment Station personnel
in characterizing the physical, chemical, and mineralogical
properties of Arkansas soils.
