Abstract:
The Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) Tropical Terrestrial Data synthesis provides
reconstructions of mean temperature of the coldest month (MTCO), mean annual
temperature (MAT), plant available moisture (PAM) and runoff (P-E based on
pollen, plant-macrofossil, noble gas (from groundwater) d18O (from
speleothems) and lake-level data covering the interval 18±2ka (14C). The
reliability of the data have
... been evaluated using explicit criteria: only data
which met these criteria are included in the final dataset. The pollen and
plant-macrofossil data were re-analysed using a consistent method (based on
local lapse rates) to derive mutually consistent reconstructions of MTCO and
PAM. The MTCO and MAT estimates have been used to derive estimated temperature
anomalies at modern sea level (MTCOSL) based on regional relationships between
the temperature anomalies and site elevation. Further details of the screening
criteria and the re-analysis procedures are given in the original publication
describing the synthesis (Farrera et al., 1999).
