Abstract:
Climatic Data resides in 24 books, 'Observations Publiees Par
L'Institut Meteorologique Central De La Societe Des Sciences De
Finlande' (C/dab AO h, C/dab AO-o) written in French. The data
contained in these books are hourly weather observation tables and
daily, monthly, and annual surface climatic data for Finland for each
month or year of the period 1882 to 1900. The parameters included in
the
... hourly observations are pressure, temperature, humidity, winds,
vapor pressure, and cloudiness. The daily variables incorporated in
these data are the following: mean pressure, temperature, humidity,
winds, cloudiness, vapor pressure, and precipitation; maximum and
minimum pressure, temperature, humidity, and vapor pressure; and
precipitation amounts.
Monthly parameters included in these data are: mean pressure,
temperature, humidity, winds, cloudiness, and vapor pressure; mean
maximum and minimum pressure, temperature, humidity, winds,
cloudiness, and vapor pressure; and number of days of precipitation,
rain, snow, hail, thunderstorms, sleet, fog, frost, etc.
Annual variables tabulated in these data are mean maximum and minimum
pressure, temperature, vapor pressure, humidity, and cloudiness.
Annual variables are only tabulated in the book with call number C/dab
AO h. In addition, the relative frequency of wind direction, daily
cloud types and their direction are tabulated.
These books are part of the foreign meteorological data collection
held by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in
this collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly,
seasonal, and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for
weather maps. These data are the result of foreign exchange
agreements, but the collection has not been updated since 1983.
