Abstract:
The dataset contains faults, flexures, fissures, and plate boundaries of the Middle East. Faults are described in terms of fault type, fault length, level of activity and quality of data.
The principal reasons for constructing this database are to help in the monitoring and verification of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) and to study the complex tectonic and geologic problems of the region. This database will also have an impact in natural hazard evaluation, particularly in uderstanding the earthquake occurrences in the region and seismic risk assessment. The data set can also be used in classrooms as an educational tool.
