Abstract:
The purpose of "Reduced Tillage Systems and Soil Quality" is to
determine the influence of tillage, soil management practices,
and climate on changes in surface residue cover, surface
roughness, and water infiltration of the soil.
Collection Organization: North Dakota State University
Collection Methodology: Residue, surface roughness, and water
infiltration measure at tillage trial to
... evaluate changes
related to different tillage equipment and/or tillage systems.
Measurements taken
over time, covering a range of soils and climatic conditions.
The database will be used to identify sound tillage practices
that meet soil erosion and water quality guidelines. Soil
sampled over a range of textures, crop rotations, tillage
systems, grassland areas, and climatic conditions for earthworms
and soil microbes to evaluate activity, populations, and
survival. This information will be compared with other soil
chemical and physical property measurements to identify factors
related to good soil quality.
