Abstract:

The U.S. rainfall and temperature data resides in 1 book, 'Maps of Rainfall and Temperature of the U.S. Tenth Census 1880' (C/gf Ao 039). In these summaries, definitions are: 1. Hourly/daily/monthly/seasonal/annual data -- values determined for each consecutive period, e.g. monthly temperature data: Jan 1900, Feb 1900, etc. 2. Long-term data -- values determined over a period of years, e.g. long-term monthly temperature data using Jan 1901, Jan 1902, etc. This book contains maps of monthly, seasonal, and annual temperature and precipitation data for military posts in the United States for 1880. Maps contain the following data: monthly mean temperature; seasonal total precipitation; annual mean temperature; annual absolute maximum and minimum temperature; and annual total precipitation. Surface weather data resides in 1 book, 'Report upon United States Geographical Surveys' (C/gf Ao E57g). In these summaries, definitions are as in the above. This book contains tables and graphs of hourly surface weather data for the USA from 1871 to 1873. Tables contain hourly readings for mean pressure, temperature, humidity, cloudiness, wind, vapor pressure, and wet bulb temperature.
