Abstract:

The upper wind data resides in 1 book,'Uber Die Windverhaltnisse Der Freien Atmosphare In Petsamo (69N, 31E) Im Sommer 1926' (C/dab K14), and is written in German. The data contained in this book are upper wind data for Petsamo, Russia for July and August 1926. The parameters included in this data are the following: daily observations of upper wind direction and velocities; monthly mean and maximum upper wind velocities for a given hour; and monthly mean wind direction at a given hour, and frequency of the wind direction at given hours and different heights. In addition, the mean upper wind velocities for March averaged over the period 1903 to 1926, are tabulated for several Russian cities, Hamburg and Lindenberg, Germany, and a few South England cities. This book is part of the foreign meteorological data collection held by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in this collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly, seasonal, and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for weather maps. These data are the result of foreign exchange agreements, but the collection has not been updated since 1983.
