Abstract:
The sunshine data resides in 1 book, 'The duration of bright sunshine in Gdynia, Dantzig, and Hel, as compared with other Polish and Baltic regions' (C/dbb G661c). The data contained in this book are tables of monthly, seasonal, and annual sunshine data for Poland and surrounding Baltic Regions, and a few cities in Southwestern Russia. The monthly and seasonal sunshine data are averaged over the period. Annual deviation of the sunshine from normal is tabulated for each individual year. Climate data resides in 1 book, 'Beitrag zur Meteorologie und Klimatologie Galiziens' (C/dbb R739), and is written in German, English notes. The data contained in this book are tables of monthly and seasonal surface climatic data for cities in Poland and Western USSR averaged over the period 1828 to 1866. The monthly parameters included in these tables are: mean temperature, humidity, cloudiness, precipitation, vapor pressure, and ozone counts; mean maximum and minimum temperature, humidity, cloudiness, precipitation, and vapor pressure; absolute maximum and minimum temperature, and 24 hour precipitation; mean pressure and cloudiness deviation from normal; mean number of days of precipitation, snow, thunderstorms, and hail; and mean wind direction frequency. Seasonal parameters incorporated in these data are mean pressure, temperature, humidity, and vapor pressure. Additional climate data resides in 2 books, 'Materyaly do poznania opadow w Krolestwie polskiem' (C/dbb G661ma), and 'Observations Meteorologiques du Reseau de Bureau Meteorolgique de Varsovie 1901-1913' (C/dbb G661m), both written in Polish and French. The data contained in these books are tables of hourly observations and monthly surface climatic data for cities in Poland and Southwestern USSR from 1803 to 1913. Monthly precipitation maps for Poland are also included in these data. Parameters included in the hourly observations are pressure, temperature, humidity, cloudiness, and winds. Daily parameters for each month incorporated in these data are the following: mean maximum and minimum temperature; daily and ten day precipitation totals; number of days with precipitation of a certain intensity, snow, hail, and thunderstorms; and sunshine intensity. Monthly parameters for each individual month are contained in these data: mean pressure, temperature, humidity, cloudiness, winds, and vapor pressure; mean maximum and minimum temperature; absolute maximum and minimum pressure, temperature, humidity, 24 hour precipitation, sunshine intensity, and precipitation totals; number of days of cloudy skies, clear skies, precipitation of a certain intensity, snow, hail, and thunderstorms; wind direction and speed frequency; and deviation of maximum monthly values of sunshine from mean solar radiation intensity. The monthly parameters averaged over the period are mean precipitation and total sunshine. The annual total of precipitation for each of the individual years is tabulated. Additional climate data resides in 1 book, 'Results of Meteorological Observations at Sobieszyn and General Climatic Conditions in Poland' (C/dbb G661w) and is written in Polish with English notes. The data contained in this book are tables and maps of monthly and annual surface climate data for cities in Poland and Southwestern Russia from 1781 to 1910. Monthly parameters are averaged over the period. These parameters include: mean pressure, temperature, cloudiness, precipitation, and winds; mean maximum and minimum temperature; and mean number of days with precipitation of a certain intensity, thunderstorms, snow, and snow cover. Annual parameters are temperature deviation from normal, and mean precipitation for each year, and mean humidity averaged over the period. Included in these data are maps of the average monthly isotherms over Poland. Additional climate data resides in 3 books, (C/dbb AO-wa). The data contained in these books are tables and maps of monthly and seasonal surface climatic data for cities in Poland and Western Russia from 1886 to 1914. The following monthly parameters for each individual time period are contained in these data: mean pressure and temperature; mean maximum and minimum temperature and pressure; precipitation totals; number of days precipitation is greater then a certain intensity; percent of normal precipitation; and mean pressure range. Monthly variables averaged over the period are: mean humidity, winds, cloudiness, sunshine hours, days without sunshine, and percent possible sunshine; absolute maximum and minimum temperature; and monthly temperature anomalies. Seasonal parameters included in these data are number of possible sunshine hours and wind distribution. Also included in these data are maps of mean number of sunshine hours in a day, mean percent possible sunshine hours, and annual mean number of days without sunshine. Humidity and vapor pressure data resides in 1 book, 'L'Humidite de l'Air en Pologne' (C/dbb G974) and is written in French and Polish. The data contained in this book are tables and maps of monthly, seasonal, and annual surface humidity and vapor pressure for cities in Poland, Western Russia, and a few cities in Germany from 1851 to 1900. These parameters include the following: mean annual, monthly and seasonal humidity; and mean monthly vapor pressure. Each of these parameters are for each individual year or month, and averaged over the period. There are maps and graphs of these variables for the mentioned region, in the back of the book. Additional climate data resides in 3 books, 'Skzkic Klimatlogii Ziem Polskich' (C/dbb B757), 'Klimat Ziem Polskich' (C/dbb W965), both written in Polish, English notes, and 'Hanbuch von Polen Beitrage zu einer allgemeinen Landeskunde' (C/dbb R763) written in German. The data contained in these books are tables and maps of monthly and annual surface climatic data for cities in Poland and Western Russia averaged over the period 1826 to 1900. The monthly parameters included in these tables are: mean pressure, temperature, humidity, cloudiness, precipitation, winds, sunshine, and vapor pressure; mean maximum and minimum pressure, temperature, and precipitation; absolute maximum and minimum pressure, temperature, and precipitation totals; mean number of days of cloudy skies, clear skies, partly cloudy skies, snow, thunderstorms, and days with precipitation of a certain intensity; mean percent of frost, hot days, and possible sunshine; daily temperature change; wind direction frequency; pressure variation; percent of possible sunshine; and first and last occurrence of snow. Temperature, pressure, and precipitation data resides in 1 book, 'Meyennes mensuelles climatologiques pour la period 1901-1930' (C/dab AO-pm) and is Polish and French. The data contained in this book is a two-page table of monthly mean pressure, temperature, and precipitation averaged over the period 1901 to 1930. This table is for Poland and cities in the Western Russia. These books are part of the foreign meteorological data collection held by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in this collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly, seasonal, and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for weather maps. These data are the result of foreign exchange agreements, but the collection has not been updated since 1983.
