Abstract:

The files in this dataset provide statistical information on the production of cattle, calves, milk, hogs, pigs, sheep, lambs, wool, chickens, layers, and eggs by county. The Livestock County Data are prepared as required by each State's Department of Agriculture program. Local (State) funding may limit data availability for a specie(s) or a year(s), including some major production States. All available data for the most recent five years is included in the files. Only State preparing county or district data have entries in each of the specie files. Values of "0" indicate that data are not prepared for the item or that the data have been included in other counties. Collection Organization: National Agricultural Statistics Service Collection Methodology: Surveys of the farm universe are made several times each year and estimates are adopted based on survey data and any other available administrative data that would support estimate levels. Collection Frequency: Annually. Dataset Update Characteristics: Updated in its entirety. STATISTICAL INFORMATION: The data reside in 8 compressed ASCII files. When uncompressed the files require 5 times the space of the compressed file.
