Description:

Abstract:

The wheat site near Ponca, Oklahoma is part of the AmeriFlux network of field research projects measuring the exchange of carbon dioxide (CO2) between terrestrial ecosystems and the atmosphere. In the latter half of 1996, a year-round measurement program of mass and energy fluxes was implemented at a wheat site in north central Oklahoma (36o 46'N, 97o 08'W, elevation 310m), within the DOE ARM-CART region. The objectives of the study are to quantify the surface fluxes of carbon dioxide, water vapor, sensible heat, and momentum in the ecosystem over the course of the entire year, and to quantify the responses of leaf photosynthesis, respiration, and stomatal conductance of dominant species to changes in controlling environmental factors.
