This is a collection of biostratigraphic analysis data sets for basins that are
offshore eastern Canada. It consists of microfossil and palynological
biostratigraphic assemblage information which has been distilled into several
hundred charts and reports. Some of this collection is part of the BASIN
database, which contains a wealth of geological, geophysical and engineering
information related to many years of petroleum exploration, primarily offshore
eastern Canada, while the remainder is part of a customized program (GEOSCI
BIOSTRAT). The BASIN portion covers the period to about 1990 and GEOSCI
BIOSTRAT mainly stores more recent data.This data set uses microfossil
assemblages in offshore well samples to assist with decision making for
offshore oil and gas exploration. These data are also used in research and to
help increase scientific knowledge of offshore sedimentary basins.
