Abstract:

The Province maintains the Provincial geodetic networks of control points located throughout Nova Scotia. Each control point is a permanent, fixed point on the ground for which the precise geographic location has been accurately determined through conventional survey methods or Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. The information is recorded and stored in the Nova Scotia Coordinate Reference System (NSCRS) database. Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations is responsible for the maintenance of the database, the physical maintenance of the current control network(s) and, for the mathematical integrity of the network computations. Geodetic network and control point information is available in many forms through regional Land Information Centres (LICs) and through the Nova Scotia Geomatics Centre, Amherst (01-902-667-7231). Whether you are interested in a single control point or a network of control points covering a specific map sheet, on paper or in digital form, our offices are ready to help.
