Description:
Abstract:
This is a teleseismic study along the main N-S corridor of the
LITHOPROBE Western Superior Transect. The objectives of the study are
to determine the structure and physical properties of the subcrustal
lithosphere in this region and to consider their implications
concerning the accretionary model proposed for the western Superior
Province.
Recording parameters:
Data Stream 1 20HZ
Channels 456
Sample rate 20 samples per second
Data Format CO
Filters
Trigger Type CON
Record Length seconds 3600
Problems: The only problems with the Reftek sites in this experiment
were those created by low power conditions in late Oct and Nov. A
snowfall in mid-Oct covered the solar panels and the batteries
eventually drained. Propping up the panels so that they were facing
South at a relatively steep angle would have solved this problem. In
Nov the amount of daylight and direct sun is too small to sustain the
batteries and again the sites became inactive about 2 weeks after the
last servicing run.
