Abstract:: Hydrothermal vent locations have been determined by visits to the site using various underwater instruments including submarines and remotely operated vehicles. Positions are determined acoustically in a relative X-Y grid and then translated into geographic positions based on the transponder positions. The most reliable navigation from a site visit is used as the vent's position. The CoAxial Segment of the Juan de Fuca Ridge NE Pacific Seafloor Data and Images.
