In English: The campaign has included continue profiles recording and seabed sampling to characterise the nature of the different cortical elements. It has included: - OBS profile (SOPAS) from the margin of the South Orkney Microcontinent, cutting Jane Basin and Jane Bank, to the oceanic crust of the Weddell Sea. The profile, with 250 km of total length, has been done in two consecutive sections. - Sampling with dredger in oceanic crust scarps in the Weddell Sea and in the Jane Bank. The points have been chosen after the seismic profiles obtained during the SCAN 97 campaign. - Multichannel seismic, gravimetry, magnetometry and sounding. The objectives of this network were: Study of the sedimentary body situated NE of the South Orkney Microcontinent. To complete the seismic network of the SCAN 97 campaign in the continental and oceanic blocks zone situated to the east of the South Orkney Microcontinent. To obtain a profile through the active extension rift between the Sandwich and Scotia plates. To study the spreading velocity of the rift and to date the recent sedimentary bodies observed in the zone, taking into account the oceanic crust age established by magnetic anomalies. Sampling of the rocks of the Sandwich/Scotia rift and of the oceanic bank zone situated to the east of the South Orkney Microcontinent. Bathimetric network, gravimetry and magnetometry in the oceanic bank zone to the east of the South Orkney Microcontinet (8 days). The aim was to know the geometric characteristics of the different banks in this zone with irregular bathimetry, as well as its nature. This network completes the information obtained by means of some seismic profiles done in the SCAN 97 campaign. En Espanol: En esta campana se ha realizado el levantamiento de perfiles cont?nuos y la toma de muestras del fondo marino con objeto de caracterizar la naturaleza de los diversos elementos corticales. Ha incluido: - Perfil OBS (SOPAS) desde el margen del Microcontinente de las Orcadas del Sur, cortando la Jane Basin y el Jane Bank, hasta la corteza oceanica del Mar de Weddell. El perfil, con unos 250 km de longitud total, se ha realizado en dos tramos consecutivos. - Toma de muestras con dragas, en escarpes de corteza oceanica en el Mar de Weddell y en el Jane Bank. Los puntos han sido seleccionados a partir de los perfiles sismicos obtenidos durante la campana SCAN97. - Sismica de multicanal, gravimetria, magnetometria y sondas. Los objetivos de esta malla eran: Estudio del cuerpo sedimentario situado al NE del Microcontinente de las Orcadas del Sur. Completar la malla de sismica de la campana SCAN97 en la zona de bloques continentales y oceanicos situada a levante del Microcontinente de las Orcadas del Sur. Realizar un perfil a traves de la dorsal de expansion activa entre las placas Sandwich y Scotia, con el fin de estudiar la velocidad de expansion de la dorsal y datar los cuerpos sedimentarios recientes que se observan en la region, teniendo en cuenta la edad de la corteza oceanica establecida por sus anomalias magneticas. Toma de muestras de rocas de la Dorsal Sandwich/ Scotia y de la zona de bancos oceanicos situada a levante del Microcontinente de las Orcadas del Sur. Malla de batimetria, gravimetria y magnetometria en la zona de bancos oceanicos a levante del Microcontinente de las Orcadas del Sur (8 d?as). La realizacion de esta malla ha tenido como objetivo conocer las caracter?sticas geometricas de los distintos bancos en esta zona de batimetria irregular, asi como su naturaleza. Esta malla complementa la informacion obtenida mediante algunos perfiles sismicos realizados en la campana SCAN97.
