Department of Organic and Evolutionary Biology, Harvard University
Data Center Description
The Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University seeks:
-To provide Harvard undergraduates with an understanding of organisms and ecosystems sufficient to insure informed participation in society;
-In collaboration with our sister department, to provide biology concentrators a foundation of biological knowledge that prepares them for further study and active participation in biological research, medicine, environmental studies, and other professions;
-Through research, to develop new knowledge in four key areas of organismic and evolutionary biology:
-Biological Diversity and the History of Life -the Integrated Biology of Organisms -the Integration of Molecular and Organismic Evolution -the Biological Component of Biogeochemistry; and -To train a new generation of biologists who will expand and improve this vision of science.
