Data Center Description
The Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP) is more than 60 members strong, comprising 12 academic staff, 18 research fellows and more than 44 research students. The activities of the group have been growing steadily since its formation in 1989 and now encompass many topics in Computer Vision, Image Analysis, Image Communication, Multimedia Systems, Speech Processing, and Signal Detection. The main sources of its research funding include EPSRC, ESPRIT, government agencies and industry.
The centre has developed strong links with industry and government research laboratories including British Aerospace, British Gas, Shell, Philips, BP, GEC, ERA, CRS, British Telecom, Bull Italia, Thomson and the Defence Research Agency (DERA). Its academic contacts and collaborators include academic groups in the United States of America and teams in the EEC, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia who are involved in joint ESPRIT, BRITE and IED projects. Staff enjoy international reputation in many areas of their activities.
