International Geosphere-Biosphere Program Data and Information System Project Description
The role of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Program (IGBP) Data and Information System (IGBP-DIS) is to assist, as needed, IGBP Core Projects in the development of their individual data system plans; help provide an overall data system plan for IGBP; carry out activities leading directly to the generation of data sets; ensure the development of effective data management systems; and act, where appropriate, to ensure the meeting of the data and information needs of IGBP through international and national organizations and agencies.
