Summary (Summary adapted from the Project Impact web pages)
Through the Project Impact initiative, FEMA and ESRI have formed a National Partnership in part aimed at providing multi-hazard maps and information to U.S. residents, business owners, schools, community groups, and local governments via the Internet. The information is intended to assist in building ... disaster resistant communities across the country by sharing geographic knowledge about local hazards.
Custom hazard maps can be created and downloaded from the web using a simple user defined interface. Users can enter a location based on zip code, U.S. city, or congressional district to find recent or historical locations of disastrous events. These events include earthquakes, floods, hail storms, tornadoes and wind storms. The generated map has the interactive features of zoom, recenter, and reposition. Each map can also be printed in a simple, predefined layout containing reference points and a scale.
