Summary Data Base of the Occurrence and Distribution of Pesticides in Chesapeake Bay provides data, derived from the scientific literature, about the occurrence and distribution of pesticides in the Chesapeake Bay and its estuaries (Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia). Primary pesticides studied were: Alachlor; Atrazine; Carbofuran; Chlordane; Chlorpyrifos; Chlorothanonil; ... Diflubenzuron; Linuron; Metolachlor; Permethrin; Simazine; and Toxaphene. More limited data are reported for many other pesticides. The data may be viewed aggregated by: Pesticide name; Geographic location of occurrence; or Biotic species in which the pesticide was detected. A set of pesticide distribution maps accompanies the data. Bibliographic information concerning the studies from which the data was derived is also provided, as is an extensive database description. When available, information about the pesticide's physical and chemical properties have been added to each pesticide record, through links to the ARS Pesticide Properties Database. A narrative detailing construction of the data base is also provided.
