Summary
The first national report of silviculture statistics was published by the
Canadian Forestry Service in 1982. It included all silvicultural activities
practiced in Canada by governments and industry from 1975 to 1979. Since 1990,
data have been collected through the annual ... National Forestry Database Program
survey.

Silviculture statistics include historical tables for 1975-1997 with
data on the following topics: harvesting, site preparation, scarification,
direct seeding, planting, stand tending and forest regeneration.To provide the
most recently available authoritative data on silviculture in Canada.

Before 1990, surveys of silvicultural activities were conducted and reported by
the Northern Forestry Centre (Brace and Golec 1982, Kuhnke and Brace 1986,
Kuhnke 1989, ForCan and CPPA 1990).

It should be noted that the data presented for the Northwest
Territories includes statistical information for Nunavut, which was established
on April 1, 1999.
