Summary
Abstract: The anomaly service generates data parameter anomalies (monthly or seasonal) based on climatology data products.

Map or time-series of anomaly values (time series will be values averaged over
the selected spatial area

Sub-definitions:

  • Grid: a two-dimensional data structure

  • Latitude: vertical dimension of grid

  • Longitude: horizontal dimension of grid

  • Pixel: grid element containing data value

  • Subset: a section of the grid reduced in the vertical or
    horizontal dimension, or both


Service Description:

Monthly anomaly of the selected parameter(s):

Xa ( i ) = X (i ) - Xm ( i )

where:

• i denotes month (1, 2, ... , 12)

• Xa(i) represents the anomaly data for the month i

• X(i) is the original data of the month i

• Xm(i) is the monthly climatology data for the month i
