Abstract:
The Information Center for the Environment, in conjunction with the National Park Service, developed preliminary databases of vascular plant and vertebrate animal species reported to occur within lands managed by the U.S. National Park Service.
This site enables you to interactively query the NPFlora and NPFauna databases. Be aware that some parks have many species records, especially for plants, and that the results of queries of the species reported from these parks can take quite a while to download, especially for those with relatively slow Internet access.
Quality
The databases are by no means complete listings of species residing in U.S. National Parks. The databases were originally compiled using custom input devices called NPFlora and NPFauna, which were developed in Microsoft FoxPro for DOS. These applications are no longer available.
