Summary
Atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) have been derived from ice cores in Antarctica. Atmospheric CO2 concentrations for Siple Station (West Antarctica) were derived from measurements of air bubbles in a 200-m ice core drilled during the summer 1983-1984. The core was drilled by the Polar Ice Coring Office in Nebraska and the Physics ... Institute at the University of Bern (Switzerland). The ice was dated to an accuracy of about +/- 2 years down to a depth of 144 meters. Atmospheric CO2 trends were obtained for the period 1734-1983 from the core and show an increase in CO2 of 22.5% from 1750 to 1984. The Siple Station data was provided by A. Neftel, H. Friedli, E.
