Abstract:
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station
(WES), Coastal Engineering Research Center (CERC) Field Research
Facility (FRF) conducts coastal research on a barrier island at Duck,
North Carolina.
Meteorological data is collected in the nearshore coastal waters
at the end of a 560 meter pier. Atmospheric temperature,
precipitation, barometric pressure, and wind speed and
... direction are
collected. The data range from 1982 to the present.
In addition, the FRF has compiled a list of storm events, defined
as events when the wave height at the seaward end of the pier exceeded
2 meters. These data range from 1983 to the present.
The data are public domain. FRF requests that the data center
contact be notified before downloading data. Proper acknowledgement
of FRF data is important. See the FRF WWW pages for a suggested
acknowledgement. Copies of publications arising from FRF data should
be sent to the FRF library.
