Summary
The Valdai water-balance research station in the forest zone of Russia is operated by the State Hydrological Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia. Data were collected from three catchments: Usadievskiy, Tayozhniy, and Sinaya Gnilka. The data set consists of 15 files which include monthly runoff, depth of ground water table, water equivalent snow depth, ... monthly evaporation for Usadievskiy, monthly precipitation at Valdai, and daily data for Usadievskiy including soil temperature and runoff data. Data are freely available from the Global Soil Moisture Data Bank at: ftp://climate.envsci.rutgers.edu/pub/soil_moisture/VALDAI/ or ftp climate.envsci.rutgers.edu login as: anonymous Password: your email address cd pub/soil_moisture/VALDAI/
