Summary
The North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) is based on the difference of
normalized sea level pressure (SLP) between Lisbon, Portugal and
Stykkisholmur/Reykjavik, Iceland from 1864 through 1996 for the months
December-March. This index was provided by Hurrell (1995). Seasonal
means ... based on these calendar months as the centers-of-action of the
NAO tend to move about or are not as well defined during the other
calendar months.
