Summary
Abstract: Harbor seals in the Gulf of Maine show high tissue levels of PCBs,
dioxins, mercury and other industrial pollutants. MERI Founder and Executive
Director Dr. Shaw will share these findings and others from the organization's
ongoing Seals as Sentinels study, and explain the implications for human health
and the ocean environment.

Purpose: The Marine Environmental Research Institute (MERI) is a 501(C)3
nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to scientific research and
education on the impacts of pollution on marine life and human health. Through
multidisciplinary research, research dissemination, education, and public
outreach, the organization strives to protect the health and biodiversity of
the marine environment for future generations
