Digital Offshore Cadastre (DOC) - Atlantic83 - Continental Shelf Boundaries
Entry ID:
CZM_moris_csb_arc
Summary
Abstract:
This data set contains Continental Shelf Boundary (CSB) lines in ESRI Arc/Info export and Arc/View shape file formats for the MMS Atlantic Region. The CSB defines the seaward limit of federally managed OCS lands. This CSB file only includes the lateral boundaries between the United States and Canada, Bahamas or Cuba. That portion of the CSB defined by the 200 nautical mile line has not yet been calculated. Because GIS projection and topology functions can change or generalize coordinates, these GIS files are NOT an OFFICIAL record for the exact CSB.
Purpose: The CSB line and other cadastre information the MMS produces are generated in accordance with 30 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 256.8 to support Federal land ownership and mineral resource management. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: The MMS is making its existing cadastre data available at http://www.mms.gov/ld/Maps.htm and on CD-ROM. These data will include digital images of MMS data at the ... ![]()

LOGICAL CONSISTENCY REPORT: The CSB line coverage was built using Arc/Info double precision.
COMPLETENESS REPORT: This CSB file only includes the lateral boundaries between the United States and Canada, Bahamas and Cuba. HORIZONTAL POSITIONAL ACCURACY REPORT: Coordinates for points forming CSB lines are used as published and stored to 3 decimal places of a meter in the TIMS database. However, GIS functions which build topology, change projection, etc. may degrade coordinate values. For that reason, these GIS files are NOT an OFFICIAL record.
