Research themes include ocean engineering, disasters and economic development, earth science and disaster case studies. Manuals deal with land use management, conducting post-tsunami surveys, and tsunami warning system communication plans. Mitigation materials relating to the social aspects of warning, disaster relief efforts and prevention.
