Abstract: "Climate and Agricultural Landscape Productivity Analysis and
Assessment in the North Central Region" is a dataset that
contains 20 years of data on annual productivity and daily
weather for all counties in the North Central Region. Its
purpose is to determine the extent, timing and frequency of
anomalous climate events using long-term observation resources
in the North Central Region. Analyze the ... climate and soils from
the perspective of agriculture landscape structure and diversity
in the North Central Region and determine the relationships of
climate and soils on agriculture production.
Collection Organization: Michigan State University, University
of Illinois, University of Missouri.
Collection Methodology: Analysis includes computing heat unit
accumulations at different thermalbases, precipitation
accumulations, and derived indices for each county for each of
the 20 years. Analysis of the temporal and spatial distribution
of derived variables provides within and between county
comparisons of climate for the NC Region. Digital maps of
climate using GIS produced for each thermal base, precipitation
accumulation and for derived variables for each of the 20 years.
Time series analysis quantify variation and spectral signatures
of climate and crop productivity. Geostatistical analysis used
to quantify features of soil, climate and crop databases.
Analysis conducted on corn for grain, soybeans and winter wheat
crops. Digital map layers of water holding capacity, soil
organic matter and soil texture used in the analysis. Climate,
soils and crop productivity interactions quantified and maps of
these associations will be developed. Prime farmland indices
developed based on soil, climate, crop production and other
