Waite Permanent Rotation Trial, Long Term Soil Organic Matter Project
Entry ID: CRCSLM.Waite

Abstract: This experiment began in 1925 at a warm temperate subtropical site in
Australia. The soil is described as a Rhodoxeralf (Soil Taxonomy)
Alfisol. There are two different land-uses: cereal ley farming -
fallow rotations 1925-1947 and cereal ley farming - fallow rotations
1948-present. In this experiment the different rotations under these
land-uses form the different treatments as follows. During ... View entire text

Quality a) Details of the plots

Width of smallest plot is 8.5 m
Length of smallest plot is 60 m . Shape: Concave
Details of direction of cultivation: Cultivated at right angles to
long axis of plot
Width of Bare Strip around plot: 45cm between plots

b) Details of replication, randomization and controls
Designed x time. Each phase of a rotation is represented each year.
Arboretum adjacent to the plots used as control. However, it may be
difficult to find an undisturbed area.
