TOGA/WOCE Lagrangian Drifting Buoy Data; from NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meterological Laboratory

Abstract: NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML)
manages the deployment of drifting buoys around the world to monitor
ocean circulation and provide ground-truth sea surface temperature
measurement. Data are stored in AOML's Drifting Buoy Data Assembly
Center (DAC) and are distributed via the Global Telecommunications
System (GTS) for operational weather and climate prediction.

Selected maps can be viewed/downloaded online.

Data are quality-controlled to provide a uniform, global data set of
SST and surface velocity.
