FY3A VIRR Global Hot Spot Monitoring Level 2 Product

Abstract: Global Hot Spot Monitoring:

The GFR (Global Fire) product utilize FY-3 VIRR data to derive the hot spot information around global range according to the features of mid-infrared channel in VIRR to a high temperature target, and the spectrum characteristics of other target, like cloud, water body, vegetation, in deferent channels of VIRR to delete the influence of solar radiation in hot spot discerning . The sub-pixel size and intensity of hot spot are evaluated using infrared channel data. The hot spot intensity is based on the sub-pixel size and temperature of the hot spot. The resolution is 1 km. The reliance gives a mark to tell the possibility of the pixel detected.

Purpose: Global Hot Spot Monitoring:

The GFR (Global Fire) product lists all the hot spot information detected in the global range daily, including the position, the sub pixel size and intensity of a hot spot, the administrative region, the type of land utilization and the observation time. These information will be useful for many government department regarding to forest and grass land fire prevention, the dangerous level of forest and grassland fire forecasting, the climate research and environment protection.
