Geodetic GPS small network for record the tidal response of the Hells Gate Ice Shelf, Victoria Land
Entry ID: static_gps_Hells_Gate_network

Abstract: The Hells Gate Ice Shelf has been chosen as a study case owing to its vicinity
from Terra Nova Bay station and to the peculiar problems it raises to
glaciologists and geophysicists. Aimed at locate grounding zones and study
their impact on the ice shelf mechanical response, a small network of 5 GPS
survey stations was settled to record the response of the ice shelf to tidal

Quality The measurements were made simultaneously using four Trimble 4000 SSE and one
4000 SST GPS receivers on the five survey points. The rapid static survey was
based on 12 measurements of 30 minutes duration each, and two hours intervals.
Two different softwares were used to elaborate the data: Topas Turbo and
GPSurvey. Topas Turbo solutions has a more regular trend, that's because the
Topas Turbo algorithm is probably more appropriate where the measurements are
strongly disturbed.
