Abstract: Contains flower-garden displayed, in which the most ornamental foreign plants are accurately represented in their natural colors, from 1845 to 1983. Furthermore, this magazine includes plants of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The Hand-painted colored plates are numbered consecutively 1-9688 through v. 164; thereafter a new consecutive numbering, 1-882.
The key to the abbreviations used in the text is located in the "Explanation of the abridgements used in the Latin Index" found on page v of the "General Indexes to the Plants Contained in the First Forty-two Volumes of the Botanical Magazine ". This index has the same call number and is shelved with the magazine in the rare book room.
