The United States Polar Rock Repository (USPRR)
Entry ID: USPRRver1

Summary
Abstract: The United States Polar Rock Repository is a new national facility constructed adjacent to Scott Hall, home of the Byrd Polar Research Center, The Ohio State University. It is supported by the National Science Foundation's Office of Polar Programs. The repository houses rock collections from Antarctica and the Arctic, along with associated materials such as field notes, annotated photos and maps, raw analytic data, paleomagnetic cores, ground rock and mineral residues, thin sections, and microfossil mounts, microslides and residues.

This website will be frequently updated with new samples added to the collection. Researchers are welcome to visit the USPRR to examine rock samples and associated materials. Portions of rock samples may be requested for study or educational display (please email the Curator for a Sample Request Form). The USPRR also maintains an Antarctic rock magnetic properties database which is a compilation of published and unpublished rock magnetic property information.
